What 1010 is said to mean

Doreen Virtue is the person most responsible for the phrase “angel numbers” and for the chart of meanings that travelled with it. She didn’t work those meanings out; she received them: went to the Source, as she put it, and asked.

Here is the honest wrinkle with 1010. Doreen’s chart lists the repeating triples, 111 through 999, and she never gave 1010 an entry of its own. What she did give was a rule for longer numbers: read them by their pairs. Under her own instructions, 1010 is a string of ones and noughts, and that combination she did write down:

So the reading you’ll meet everywhere, that 1010 is a fresh start and a call to mind your thinking, isn’t a line Virtue wrote for 1010. It’s her ones and noughts reading, widened by a later web of writers into “new beginnings.” Worth knowing, so you can see the join.

Why one and nought

An angel number is read through its digits. 1010 is ones and noughts, and each carries an old and simple meaning.

One is the source. The old thinkers barely counted it a number at all; they called it the beginning that number comes out of, the single point every count sets off from.

One is where things start: the first step, the seed, the origin. And the nought beside it is the circle that closes on nothing and everything at once, the empty round that, set after a one, makes it ten and makes it larger. In the reading, zero is the amplifier, the “God” digit that turns a personal beginning into one with something vast behind it.

Put them together, the fresh step and the great backing, and you have 1010’s promise: begin, and mind what you begin with, because more than you is behind it.
