Of the numbers in this system, the Life Path is the one numerology leans on hardest. It's read as your core temperament: the way you tend to meet things, and the theme that keeps surfacing across a life. Treat it as a lens rather than a forecast. It won't tell you what happens on Tuesday, and it won't pick your career for you.
What it's good for is recognition. Hold the number up against your own life and keep what actually fits. The parts that sting a little are usually the ones worth sitting with. The parts that don't, you're free to leave.
Reading meaning into numbers is old. The Greek tradition behind it, arithmology, runs back roughly 2,400 years. That tradition was cosmology: it described how the universe was built, not who you are. The Greeks called 4 “justice” and 7 “the virgin” without ever suggesting your birthday made you one.
The idea that a birth date reduces to a single number describing your character is much younger. It comes from early-1900s American numerology, part of the New Thought movement, which reimagined the old cosmic symbols as personality traits. The birth-date math itself has no traceable ancient source. We'd rather show you the seam than paper over it, so each number's page marks where the old meaning ends and the modern invention begins.
